TV bombshell after 15 years: The Geissens are moving to ProSieben

Carmen and Robert Geiss are taking their hit show “Die Geissens – Eine schrecklich glamouröse Familie” to ProSieben from the coming season. After 15 years on RTLZWEI, Germany’s best-known millionaire family is entering a new television era.

For 15 years, they belonged to RTLZWEI just as surely as Monaco belongs to millionaires, Saint-Tropez to summer and Carmen Geiss’s legendary “Roooobert!” to German television. Now an entirely new chapter is beginning: “Die Geissens – Eine schrecklich glamouröse Familie” is moving to ProSieben from the coming season.

This is no ordinary change of channel. It is a genuine TV bombshell.

A television show became a cult brand

The family first appeared on RTLZWEI on 3 January 2011. What began as a glimpse into the extraordinary lives of Carmen and Robert Geiss grew into one of the longest-running and best-known reality brands on German television.

Monaco, Dubai, Saint-Tropez, luxury yachts, dream properties, family chaos and major business deals: the Geissens opened a world to viewers that few had ever seen at such close range. Yet it was never just the luxury or the spectacular locations that made the show successful. It was the unmistakable personalities, the humour and the unfiltered family dynamic.

The result is cult status, a loyal following and a television brand whose reach extends far beyond traditional broadcasting. Even after 15 years, the show performed above RTLZWEI’s channel average in 2025 and generated 5.7 million streaming hours. In March 2026, new double episodes once again delivered strong audience shares of up to 6.3 per cent among viewers aged 14 to 49.

Now comes the biggest stage

With ProSieben, Germany’s most glamorous family is gaining a new home within one of the country’s most powerful private broadcasting groups.

ProSiebenSat.1 reaches around 60 million people every month, equivalent to roughly 76 per cent of Germany’s population. ProSieben itself is known for major entertainment brands, high-impact productions and formats that are not merely broadcast but turned into events.

This is precisely where the next Geissens era begins.

The move opens up new possibilities for the show: an even bigger stage, additional audiences and a strong entertainment environment linking linear television, digital services and social media. In return, ProSieben is gaining far more than another reality show. It is securing a family and lifestyle brand built over 15 years, with exceptional recognition and a fiercely loyal audience.

A move that sends a message

Successful formats change broadcasters from time to time. Rarely, however, does a show move after shaping the identity of its former channel so decisively for a decade and a half.

RTLZWEI made the Geissens big. At the same time, Carmen, Robert, Davina and Shania helped define the face of RTLZWEI. Their departure therefore marks the end of an extraordinary shared television story – and the beginning of a new chapter that promises to be every bit as exciting.

The Geissens are not stopping. They are shifting up a gear.

Producing the programme through their own company, Geiss TV, has enabled the family to help shape its story and keep the show close to their real lives. This combination of independence, entrepreneurship and entertainment is precisely what makes the format so valuable to its new television home.

New season, new channel, same Geissens

Carmen, Robert, Davina and Shania remain exactly what they have always been: loud, luxurious, entrepreneurial, emotional and guaranteed never to be boring. Only the address on the remote control is changing.

The adventures awaiting the family in their first ProSieben season, the launch date and the new time slot will be announced at a later date.

After 15 years of television history, a new era is beginning for Germany’s best-known millionaire family. The Geissens are coming to ProSieben – and the move is every bit as glamorous as the family itself.
